A warm village on the Golden Circle

Fludir is a small farming village in the south, set among fields warmed by the geothermal water that runs just beneath them. Rows of greenhouses light up the evenings, the oldest swimming pool in Iceland steams away on the edge of town, and the whole place has an easy, unhurried warmth.

Sitting on the eastern side of the Golden Circle, Fludir is the perfect place to slow the loop down. Soak in the Secret Lagoon, lunch among tomato vines, and feel how completely this corner of Iceland lives on its warm water.

Right on the famous loop

Fludir lies on the Golden Circle, about 90 minutes from Reykjavik and a short drive from Gullfoss and Geysir, which makes it a natural soak and lunch stop on the country's most popular route. Drive yourself, or join a Golden Circle tour that builds in a visit.

The village is small and welcoming, with the Secret Lagoon, greenhouses and cafes all close together. Bring a swimsuit for the lagoon and an appetite for produce grown a few steps from your plate.
